Robbie Zuel is a sociable person. He always has been. When we were kids, he told me that he was going to shake hands with every person in the world. One time, his first grade teacher sent a note home. It read, “Robbie’s a great student, but he talks too much.” When my mom asked him about it, he shrugged and told her “I like to talk. And someone has to do it.” 

 

Connecting with others is Robbie’s superpower. He is: witty, charismatic ,devoted, loving, beloved, reliable, and dedicated. These qualities, among many others, will serve him well during the challenging, unexpected journey that he and his family now face. 

 

Robbie has recently been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL.)  “ALL is a type of cancer of the blood and bone marrow — the spongy tissue inside bones where blood cells are made. The word "acute" in acute lymphoblastic leukemia comes from the fact that the disease progresses rapidly and creates immature blood cells, rather than mature ones” Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research.

Robbie is undergoing induction therapy by way of chemotherapy. 

 

Robbie is a devoted father to his children Xochitl and Rowan. He is a loving husband to his grade school crush, now wife Angelica of 7 years. Robbie is a beloved little brother and son. Robbie is a reliable friend whose affable personality has impacted those around him. Robbie is part of the cage operations family for 8 years at Yamaava casino. Robbie has a dedicated work ethic. Co-workers have said that he is always on the move. 

 

If you know Robbie, then you probably know most of the following things. However, if you do not know him very well, you are in for a treat because this guy rocks. 

 

Robbie likes comedy movies and listens to comedy podcasts religiously. He is a music lover. 

He is really into numbers. He loves learning about finance and prides himself on his financial literacy. Robbie enjoys playing real time strategy games on his XBOX. 

 

He likes baseball and basketball. He is a die-hard Dodgers and Lakers fan. He enjoys fantasy sports, and tracks statistics and builds dream teams. Outside of his work suit and tie, Robbie can often be found sporting his flannel shirt and a baseball cap. 

 

Robbie is a 34 year old sentimentalist with a passion for life. He has been dealt additional challenges with his new illness, however he has much healing and catching up to do if he plans on shaking everyone in the world’s hands.
